Cynthia modeling her Paganoonoo's

My dear friend Cynthia is a Paganoonoo aficionado.  We just spent the weekend visiting and I asked Cynthia to pose for some candid shots. She looks fantastic in all of them.

This is Cynthia's newest blouse.
It was made following the Paganoonoo "Ellie" pattern. 

This one is made with a Anime print blouse, part of a flannel shirt, and a lime green skirt covered with green netting, following the Paganoonoo "Patti" Pattern.

     

 

This blouse is a one-of-a-kind custom made for Cynthia (no pattern available.)  It was made from 2 dress shirts and part of a cashmere sweater. 

 

 

 

This last one is not actually Cynthia's and she offered to model it anyway.  It is made from a tie dyed upcycle t-shirt and parts of several dress shirts.  I used the "Ellie" instructions.

On a t-shirt transformation roll - Featuring the Paganoonoo "Ellie" Instructions

 

 I'm preparing for Artisty In Fashion, a terrific wearable art show on September 23, 2017 at Canada College in Redwood City, CA 10:00 - 4:00.


This year I plan to focus on selling upcycled t-shirts based on the Paganoonoo "Ellie" Instructions.

I found this terrific graphic t-shirt of the band Tower of Power.  

I added front knit pockets, and a shirt sleeve lower back.  

These are in-process views with the lower back still un-hemmed.

I'm a sucker for strong colors and red, black and white is a favorite combo for me.  

The best thing about this pattern is that you gain hip, belly, and thigh room.  I don't know about you but at a certain age I started to put on weight in the belly.  Given that I already had a generous derriere and thighs I started to have real trouble finding anything that fit my bust and had enough room for my lower half.

                        

 

                           

 

 For this one I combined two t-shirts.  One said "keep calm and kill zombies" and the other said "I wrote code so you don't have to".  I liked them better together.

Living in Silicon Valley there is a large population of lady code writers.  I'm hoping a few come to Artistry and fall in love.

I added a bit of detail on each sleeve.  The flowers are hand stamped with beads placed in the centers.

Another great bold graphic, this time for Martin Guitars. The back is a small pleated skirt.  I love the spirograph pattern. 

   

 

Adding a bit of detail to the sleeves and
on the sides completes the look. 

 And last but not least, an icon...

What a fabulous photo of Madonna!

I added a 3D flower on the sleeve.

The back is made from parts of a dress shirt.

 I enhanced Madonna's image using seed beads on the eye highlights, a sequin & seed bead on her mole,
and then added red lips. The bead accents show up more in person. 

Bead Show and Cuff Class

I enjoyed experimenting with parts of beaded garments while working on developing the beaded cuff class for the Santa Clara Bead and Design Show last weekend.

In addition to making bracelet starters I made a collection of charms, bits backed with parts of an upcycled leather jacket.  I've given a few away as thank you gifts, a little something to keep on a desk and bring smiles. 

Here are the stages of bracelet making, starting from the bottom and working up. 

4) Glued onto leather and then trimmed
3) Knit fabric trimmed away, closures attached

2) sewn onto knit fabric

1) trimmed from the garment

Class participants choose their starter beaded fabric
and began working.

Their results were fantastic!

We had a great time.  I would love to do the class for you too!  If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area and gather a minimum of 6 and up to 12 people I will put on a class for you.  Of course I'm happy to teach with guilds and in other venues as well.

My booth neighbor Sally is delightful and oh so talented!  She has perfected the art of jewelry making with vintage jeweled watch parts, both the faces and the works inside. Truly one-of-a-kind upcycled jewelry.

Another vendor, Robin, makes art that I completely adore!! This cute fish is mine.  I covet all the rest.

 

 

 Bahira made this bag from FABMO fabric and embellished it with beads. Wow!  I will defiantly be trying this technique on upholstery fabric.  (Details on FABMO here)

I combined beads and buttons for a neckline embellishment

 

I purchased a bead collection from an estate sale.  The upcycle above is my first foray into using these beads.  At this rate I will need to live another 100 years to use them up.  

Although I will be able to use many of them, there are quite a few I will sell as I can't use them for my purposes.  Perhaps on my Etsy shop.
